How to Convert an RTF File into Word Document?

RTF files are readable across different programs and platforms. However, several apps that can import Word documents may not necessarily be able to import RTF files. In such cases, you can convert your RTF files to Word documents. In this article, we will explore the process to do so.


Convert an RTF File

On Microsoft Word

If you want to convert an RTF file into MS word, you need to follow the steps given below.

● Get started by going to the MS Word on your device.

● After that, you should select the "File" from the menu bar.

● Then you have to select the "Open" option.

● Thereafter, you should choose the RTF file that you wish to convert into Word document.

● Later, you have to select "Open." Then your selected file will open into MS Word.

● Now, you should select the "File" in the menu bar section on the upper side of the page.

● After that, select "Save As".

● Then you should select the "File Format" from the drop-down menu section.

● Thereafter, you have to select "Word Document (.docx).

● Later, you should choose the "Save" option.

● Now, your RTF file will be converted into MS Word.

On Google Docs

You can convert RTF file into MS Word using Google Docs. Here are the instructions given below.

● To begin with, visit the www.docs.google.com in your preferred web browser.

● After that, you have to sign up or sign in to free Google account.

● Then you will see Google Docs site. You should select (Add +) sign, which is located in the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

● In the new page, go to the "File" option on the top of the window.

● Thereafter, you should select "Open".

● Later, you have to select the "Upload" option at the upper side of the screen.

● Now, you should select the "Select a file from your computer", which is located in the middle of the screen.

● After that, you have to choose the RTF file that you would like to convert.

● Then you should select the "File" option in the upper left-hand side of the screen.

● Thereafter, you have to select "Download As".

● Now, you should select "Microsoft Word".

● After that, you have to rename the document and select the "Save" option.

● Then your RTF file will be stored in an MS Word document.
